Hi, I'm an everyday 42-yr-old man from the UK and similar to nearly all of males in the UK I spend a small fortune every year on shaving equipment.
Nevertheless I just lately discovered an efficient process that is not only pleasant but it will probably save you cash shaving too. Presently I'm saving over £100 a yr on shaving and quite a lot of my time too. It's so easy you will probably kick yourself once you learn how! So I wish to share this technique with you, not only to avoid wasting your self money, but to make a every day chore a speedy process (and no, I'm not going to tell you to stop shaving!)
As you understand shaving is just about unavoidable unless you are a woman or have a beard, so you probably wouldn't be reading this article in the first place unless you're a regular shaver. This text is directed at men of course nevertheless there is no reason why this method cannot be utilised by ladies too!
When I Began Shaving
As a young man I used an electric razor my parents purchased for me for Christmas. Unfortunately it did not seem to shave close enough and as I recall it gave me a rash on my neck too. So I made a decision to start out shaving using Gillette razors and shaving foam which appeared to work very well, I believe that is all that was out there except the horsehair brush and soap.
The Razors I've Tried
I've also tried disposable razors at one point, in an effort to save some cash, which was a terrible mistake! I seemed as if I had fallen face first in a thorn bush, then when I put tissue paper on the cuts I looked like something from a horror film.
A few years in the past I remember a work colleague who came to work with a little bit of tissue on the tip of his nose, how he managed to cut his nose shaving I do not know however it was hilarious.
I've additionally used Wilkinson Sword for a few years too, however I finally switched back to Gillette razors because they had the edge (okay, bad joke) and I've stuck with Gillette ever since.
Once I tried a razor that you get with a travelling bag as a part of a Christmas or birthday gift. You know those, you get a deodorant after-shave and moisturiser that all smell the identical and a razor that looks cheaper than a disposable. I took one stroke and decision to stop because I didn't fancy a skin graft thank you very much. I believe they should be accompanied by a " Hazardous" sticker and health warning!
Don't Purchase Low-cost Shaving Foam
I remember at one time I bought some low cost shaving foam and what a mistake that was! Utterly useless! Utilizing soap and water would have been better! Then I found shaving gel, which I have to say is much simpler than foam and I believe it lasts much longer too. I've used Gillette shaving gel for a very long time however then I discovered a gel that appeared to work even better, called Nivea for Men Sensitive Shaving Gel. The foam from the gel was thicker and left my pores and skin very smooth afterwards, what would you expect, after all Nivea are the pores and skin experts.
A Visit to the Barbers in China
Whilst on a trip to Nanning in China, the airport safety personnel took my shaving gel from me that I'd purchased especially for the journey, despite the fact that it was smaller than the maximum 125ml that was permitted on the plane at that time. They discovered it in my hand baggage so it's a good suggestion to pack them in your primary baggage if you are considering of flying anywhere.
I had gone with out shaving for about three days when my spouse advised I try a local barber; I thought to myself "why not I've never been to a barber before". The barber had me lie down then put a warm towel over my beard for a minute or two. After removing the towel he got me to sit up and put some soap to my face with a little horsehair brush. He sharpened his cutthroat blade and walked at me with it. I'd only seen cutthroat blades in the old films and I'd utterly forgotten barbers used cutthroat blades, I thought they would be using something else by now. I need to say it's a bit intimidating having a cutthroat blade going on your neck from a complete stranger that doesn't speak a word of English. Numerous crazy thoughts go through your thoughts, like what if he slipped? Or I coughed? Or what if he didn't like foreigners? He took a few strokes then sharpened his blade, once more took a number of more strokes then sharpened it again then proceeded to shave me. Then I had to lie down again and he put a hot towel over my face before he sat me up and repeated the process. I have to say it was somewhat painful however I couldn't say a lot as a result of he didn't speak a word
